Synopsis

Electronic commerce (e-commerce) is an integral part of business. E-commerce systems operate practically non-stop to capture and process transactions. The development and deployment of efficient and functional e-commerce systems necessitates understanding various business and e-commerce models, strategic implementation, assessing the feasibility of enabling technologies and following upon developments of evolutionary e-commerce technologies and trends. This course prepares students to embark on work in the business realm of e-commerce, in evaluating and developing useful e-commerce application systems.

Learning Outcome
  • Distinguish between e-commerce business models and conventional business.
  • Examine the electronic commerce framework, including the infrastructure, supporting areas and key technologies in electronic commerce.
  • Explain ecommerce transaction and payment systems, and strategic e-commerce implementation.
  • Propose appropriate e-commerce marketing strategies, applications and systems in e-commerce implementation
